is the data of your ps3 held on the blue ray disc drive?

my ps3 doesn't read games and I need to replace the disc drive but I was wondering will I still have my data from games like cod and such

you can't replace the entire disc drive, either replace the laser lens or when you really have to... make sure the computer board on the previous disc drive is connects to the new disc drive.

Data is stored on a hard drive, not on your discs OR your blu ray drive.

Data is stored on the hard drive. The disc drive is simply there to read the discs when inserted. So yes you will have the data regardless.
