No, it does not support Blu-ray or even DVD. It can play Gamecube games though.

The Wii has absolutely NO BluRay support! That's a Sony licensed format, so Nintendo won't even touch it (as they don't want to pay a rival to use their technology on their system).

The Wii does have a DVD-ROM drive, but Nintendo did not bother to include DVD-Video support with it (which would have added $5 to the system's price & they would have to develop their own app for it)... so you have to softmod your Wii to add that support, should your Wii support it (as newer systems don't).

The only way you can watch movies on a Wii is by using Netflix or Hulu Plus. You could also do this by hacking. But no, the Wii is not a blu-ray player
