iPhone 3g - Can I get games and apps if jailbroken?

So apparently I just found out that my iPhone 3gs was an iPhone 3 lol. Little did I know.. Anyways. Ive been doing research for hours now and I know a little more then I did, But what I am wondering is if I jailbroke my iPhone 3g would I then be able to get apps and such? Is there any hope for getting any games or apps on this phone? I just restarted my phone and lost everything because I didnt understand the instructions on youtube videos, and that is how I found out my iPhone is only a 3g lol sad I know. Anyways, what can I do?

well ofcourse u could/and should jailbrake it
and the best website (the one i use) for downloading apps for JB iphones is http://download.pandaapp.com/?app=soft&controller=iphone

just make sure that apps are made for ios 4.2
