Originally from India, Chef Maneet Chauhan earned a bachelor's degree from India's top hotel management school, The Welcome Group Graduate School of Hotel Management and then interned at some of India's finest hotels and kitchens, including the Taj Group, Oberoi Hotels and Le Meridian. She continued her culinary education in 1998 by enrolling in the CIA's baking and pastry arts associate degree program graduating with top honors, while earning numerous service and scholastic achievement awards.*She started her career working for a family owned, fine-dining Indian restaurant in Cherry Hill, NJ before moving to Chicago to rise above 40 male chefs and be chosen as the opening *Executive Chef at Vermillion, a Latin-Indian fusion restaurant. She also was the opening chef at Vermillion in NYC and during her tenure at the restaurant, earned many accolades including best import to New York City by Time Out Magazine.After eight years Chef Maneet branched off on her own founding India culinaire, an avant-garde culinary and hospitality company. She was the only Indian female competitor on The Iron Chef and is now a judge on Food Network’s hit show Chopped. The show was nominated for a Critic’s Choice award and earned her a James Beard Award for Excellence. She has tremendous zest and has just opened a restaurant in Nashville, apart from embarking on a 21-city book tour promoting her new book Flavors of My World.Listen to Chef Maneet in conversation with MR Rangaswami as she discusses her life, her successes and the hardships of rising to the top of a competitive industry.
