connect to a Blu-Ray player? When connecting a Blu-Ray player to an HD tv 720 pixels, do i need both a HDMI cable and the component cables or will ithe cables just enhance the picture

HDMI is the best way to hook up your blu-ray player. Even if your tv is only 720p the picture will still look better using HDMI.

You would only need the "component" cables IF your TV doesn't have an HDMI port. And even if you DID only have component cables and not HDMI, the component cables are only for video. You'd need a separate audio cable. Stick with the HDMI. You don't need both.

The HDMI cable will handle the video and audio in one cable. The component cable is only for video connection. So, you do not need both cables to connect your blu ray disc player.
