can be done? Okay, a little background: I moved from NJ/NYC area to Washington DC for a job. My father gave me his car to keep, however we need did any title swap or anything, he just gave me the car and said god speed. The car was fully paid for and is fairly new, thus its a good chunk of cash. Alot of dealers are offering 20k for trade in value. Now I told him that I want to do a trade in for a different car, he says sure it is your car (not on paper of course). I found the car I want to buy, now what is the next step? If the title was under my name, I wouldn't need him but it isn't. Can I buy the car and then he gives the title to the dealership or is it something that needs to be done with his presence? Thanks. PS he wants me to come all the way to NY and buy a car in that area but I found one here for a really good deal and desperately want this particular car. Help!!
