I, unfortunately, am not so tech savvy. Can I play a blue ray dvd on my regular dvd

Nope. Blu-Rays aren't DVDs at all. They look similar and they're the same size, but the data is formatted differently, because they hold much more information than a DVD. The only thing that can play a Blu-Ray is a Blu-Ray player (and the good news is that Blu-Ray players can also play DVDs - and audio CDs too).

No, you must go to the store and exchange it. There are no blu-ray DVD discs, they are 2 different formats alltogether

No u can't,but if u have a ps3,u can play ur blue ray dvd if u don't want to give money out for a blue ray player.did it for some time.and the nice thing about the ps3 is,when we go on holiday,we take it with and can watch dvd, cause it also play normal dvds
