I need a DVD ripper that can help me convert DVD to MKV file, can anyone help me?

I have a lot of personal DVD videos, and I hope to convert DVD to MKV file so that I can watch them without carrying the DVD discs and I can watch the DVDs on my portable video player, but I do not know how to choose a good DVD to MKV converter, because there are so many DVD rippers when searching through the search engine and this is the first time I have tried to use a DVD ripper, I don't want to waste my time choosing a DVD ripper.

The only one I found that rips to MKV is Handbrake. I use WinXDVD but it doesn't rip to MKV.
