No, this is not a stupid question, it is a wise one. When you are dealing with iTunes, you never know what may happen. Here are some instructions:
1. Launch iTunes
2. Go to the song you wish to delete
3. Right click the song
4. On the menu that pops up, click delete.

Otherwise, you should be able to go to the song, highlight it, then go to...
EDIT--> DELETE.
