I have to replace the Lambda sensors on my 2003 Ford Fiesta. 1242cc. I nearly fainted when I asked the price of them off a Ford dealer. Add the cost of the parts to the fitting charges and it would come to half what I earn in a month.I cant afford that. I can buy a non ford replacement for approximately a 5th of the price they want. Fitting it myself. However need to know how many wires they have. Is it 4 or 3? Very cleverly it something that the manual doesn't tell you. Help would be great.. thanks in advance!

Your Lambda sensor ( also called oxygen or O2 sensor ) looks like the top of a spark plug with wires coming off the top of it/them (there are 2 or 3 of these sensors) they are fit into the exhaust system of the car up near the engine area and 1 may be behind the muffler but probably not on this vehicle. You will need to get under the car to see them. You will have to physically look at them if this question even arises because that means the car was manufactured both ways. So when you look at them just count if there are 2 or 3 wires coming off the top of one of them. You may have to pull back some tape or other type of cover to actually see the wires. You can see a picture of what a typical O2 sensor looks like and how it is fit into an exhaust pipe at this unbelievebly extremely long web address that you can copy and paste
