Engineering services are a crucial factor determining the success of any industry in the engineering sector. For a reputed firm, it is important that they complete their projects on time so that their clients can market the developed product before the deadline. They cannot afford to lose their credibility on the basis that they do not have the necessary resources or time just because they have other projects to complete. For an engineering services outsourcing firm, each project is as important as the other. Their services cover all areas of manufacturing which eventually ensure smooth production of goods and delivery at the right time to market. Once a project is handed over to the outsourcing firm, the service provider assigns a few expert engineers (who have the necessary skills to complete the task at hand) to understand the customer's products and services, systems and processes, tools and applications, standards and conventions etc. This is necessary to build a good relationship with the customer’s engineering team. Once they have gained the required knowledge, they create a product development atmosphere as similar to that of the customer’s.

As the engineer’s on both teams have to interact with each other in various phases of the product development cycle, a communication strategy is developed and this helps to transfer information directly between the customer engineers and engineers without any hindrances. This speeds up the overall development process which enables the team to complete the project before the deadline. Interaction between both team members is crucial as developing the right design would provide many benefits such as reduced cycle time, reduced tool change-over time etc.
