How do you break in a brand new sports bike?

Getting a great deal on a new Yamaha r6 as my first bike. what are some things I should do before taking it for my first ride (as far as tires, etc). And whats the best way to break in the engine

I always read the manual, in general baby it, don't rev it high, don't run a constant speed. The theory is to load the parts and then let them cool.

The engine is already broken in at the factory. get the tires warmed up and scrubbed in, so take it easy the first 50-100 miles. The brakes need to be bedded before they work properly as well. Have fun!

First bike? BAD choice, really bad choice.

Larger sports bikes don't really need breaking in these days even from brand new, all you have to do is scrub the tyres in.
