I am looking to setup a silent alarm for my vehicles outside.
What is the best way using wireless to transmit a triggered state. My thought is to have a "Normally Open" Circuit trigger that will Close on alarm. This close needs to be transmitted 30-50 feet to a receiver that will set off an alarm that will remain in an alarmed state until reset. I say N.O. as I don't want my car driving out of range to trigger the alarm.
My initial thought was IR emitter/receiver , but that would be very dependent on where the emitters are in the vehicle. In addition to it being outdoors, I would imagine there would be concerns of "Natural IR Pollution" not to mention the range or IR through tinted glass.....
Anyway looking for some inexpensive ideas (less then $20) to accomplish this, thank you for any input you can offer. If IR is my only option, any suggestions on how to best accomplish this task?
