I have multiple .mkv files on my computer that I would like to burn to DVD to watch on my DivX player. Im looking for a method that is short and sweet. I need either a good way to convert .mkv to .avi or to .divx, or another simpler way to get the movie to play in my dvix player.
What im not looking for is a crappy website that is trying to sell their software!
(Like http://www.convertmkv.net/)

Basically what I need is something that is: Free, fast, easy, and efficient.
Thanks!

You just need to install a codec.
I use CCCP. Just go here: http://www.cccp-project.net/
and click Download CCCP and install that. (Don't mess with any of the settings during install)
You should be able to play mkv's after the installation.

http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux

is a free video converter which on Linux at least converts mkv files and avi files like a champ.

I do most of my video watching with:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

It also handles mkv files.

This is fast, has a host of options, and is very simple to use. No Nag screens either.
http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/

has never failed for me.
