How do I fully get rid of DivX and PC Cleaner?

One my husband installed to watch videos and the other I downloaded thinking that it would help me clean up some things on my laptop (but it wanted to fix 1300 things-too much!). Now I've uninstalled the programs and everything that comes up in a harddrive search, but I keep finding residual things from these programs, like their updaters wanting to run even though it should all be gone. Any ideas on how I can really and truly get these things off my computer without causing any damage? Thanks, and God bless!

Before you uninstall using Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features always look in the Start>All Programs list for the software you want to uninstall and, if it's a folder (and not just an icon), open it and see if it has uninstallers.

Revo uninstaller is one of the best. I always prefer to download from the software manufacturer. Scroll down to the freeware version download button.

reinstall them, restart your computer, and use revo uninstaller to uninstall them, click this link to read the description, and see the reviews:

Revo will get rid of the traces left behind. The only way to get rid of more than revo will is to edit the registry yourself.

*****Ccleaner is an awesome program, and you can set it so that it won't delete the things you don't want deleted, just uncheck everything you want to keep in the "window", and "applications" tabs when you open the cleaner.
