I recorded some stuff on a DVD-R disc from my DVD player. I want to edit it now, cutting out some stuff to make the scenes more seamless, and joining other scenes together. I'm just not sure where to begin, though. I'm currently trying to use Microsoft Movie Maker, but it's not really working for me.

1.) Can I download the video from the DVD onto my hard-drive?
2.) What's a good program to use? Preferably free, I'd rather not buy something for this small task.
3.) When I'm done, how can I convert it to a format that I can upload on youtube? Again, preferably without having to buy another computer program.

windows movie maker could actually do that.

1. insert dvd-r disc, open to view files. cut into desktop (or wherever you feel, example: documents, videos, ext) and open it in windows movie maker, and burn it on a new disc. I dont think its possible to burn it on the same disc.
