help, how do i use youtube? im a newbie to the technical world?

hi, im so new to this internet lark, i have just registered on YouTube as so many people say theres funny things on there etc, but... what do i do after ive signed in? i see the word subsrcibe, does it cost or is it like a group joining thing. your probably laughing that i dont know but im laughing too that i dont know. thank you in advance for any nice answers, and also for the not so nice answers thank you for taking time out from your busy life to message me x
