Ford Focus 1999 headlights dimmed engine stalled?

Hi I was driving my focus tonight to go to the cinema. En Route The lights started to get dim and the engine seemed to slow down, I couldn't drive it properly. I was using the lights, Heating, Rear demister etc. Eventually I came to a halt and had to push it round the corner. The battery light came on. then the orange engine light came on.

Obviously the battery has died. But does this mean I need to buy a new alternator? I have just sold the car today due to be picked up tomorrow! I have never had any problems with it since I have owned it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

probably means that you need a new alternator or could be as simple as the belt breakin off and which disallowed the battery from recharging. so either you need a battery or an aletranetor or just the belt.

After major probs with the Ford Focus I gave up after major repair bill!
