Flooding Returns to Greek City of Volos as Storm Elias Hits

The Greek port city of Volos, still recovering from severe flooding from Storm Daniel early in September, was again hit by damaging storm conditions overnight into September 28, with local reports describing streets being turned into rivers.Footage here, provided by local Miltos Pap, showed street flooding in Volos on September 27.“We are safe, although the car was destroyed by the flood and we have been without water and electricity since yesterday afternoon,” Pap told Storyful on Thursday.The Greek Emergency Services issued traffic bans for several regions across the country, “due to the development of dangerous weather phenomena.”Storm Elias is the second bout of extreme weather Greece has faced in a matter of weeks, after Storm Daniel killed at least 16 people earlier in September.
