DVD burning help needed!! please?

Hii....
i just got a dvd burner installed in my computer to make dvd movies for my own and others too...
so how do you know that my dvd burner accepts which one of the following DVD-R or DVD+R or DVD-RW???
so i can buy that kind of dvds and start making dvd movies
