In the second period of Game 3 of the Western Conference Final, Duncan Keith of the Chicago Blackhawks got into it with Jeff Carter of the Los Angeles Kings. At one point, Keith was reaching down to pick up his glove when Carter appeared to hit it – or Keith – with his stick blade.

So Keith decided to hit Carter. In the face. With his stick. Ouch.

As you can see, Keith went over to apologize right after he hit Carter. Then he did it again after the Blackhawks killed off the high-sticking double minor.

Eh, we’re sure they’ll be fine by the first Team Canada camp.

UPDATE: The NHL is exploring supplemental discipline for Keith. Here's what he had to say about the incident, via Mayor's Manor:

“Yeah it was accidental. Obviously I wanted to give him a tap but not where I got him. I felt bad. I’m glad to see that he came back. It was just a scuffle. It was an accident. (concerned if league will take a look at the high-stick): “I have no idea. I said it was an accident.”
