Luke Rodgers evened up New York's conference semifinal against the L.A. Galaxy in the fourth minute of the second leg on Thursday night. A minute later he was booked and two minutes after that, he kicked the ball into the stands in frustration, narrowly missing a woman standing behind the advertising board. Despite the near decapitation, Rodgers did make it through the full 90 minutes without getting sent off. L.A. did, however, score twice to advance on a 3-1 aggregate score, though.
This isn't the first time Rodgers fired a missile at a woman's head, though. In 2002, he was ordered to pay compensation after disfiguring a teenage girl's face with a firework outside a West Midlands pub. Thankfully, this incident didn't end as horrifically as that one, but maybe it's time the 29-year-old stops launching things at bystanders.
