From the streets of Wrigleyville to the stages of Saturday Night Live, the celebration continues for the world champion Chicago Cubs.
Cubs stars*Anthony Rizzo, Dexter Fowler and David Ross all made guest appearances on this week’s episode of the iconic late-night sketch comedy show. And to everyone’s delight, they were joined by dedicated Cubs fan and former SNL cast member Bill Murray.
The Cubs trio actually appeared twice, but the highlight of the entire show took place when Murray hopped on stage to join them for a special rendition of “Go, Cubs, Go” during the “Weekend Update” segment.

OK, so the singing may not be great, but they only had to follow a 30 years past its prime “Church Lady” sketch. In other words, they could have sent Anthony Rizzo out there twerking for two minutes and it still would have been the best part of that segment.

Instead, we got 10 seconds of Rizzo twerking during an earlier sketch where the Cubs served as guest entertainers, for the lack of a better word, working a bachelorette party for a grandma who went “Weekend at Bernie’s.”
It was a little awkward and entirely unexpected, but that’s a big part of the appeal of what Saturday Night Live presents each week.

Left to right: David Ross, Dexter Fowler, Bill Murray and Anthony Rizzo appear on Saturday Night Live. (SNL) Of course, a lot of people were hoping for an appearance from “Harry Caray” as portrayed by former cast member Will Ferrell. Sadly, that did not happen. But we’ll always have these images of Grandpa Rossy doing whatever the heck those dance moves are, and we’ll always have the memories.
