Country with good animal welfare for holiday?

i want to go to a country on holiday that has good animal welfare. For example i wont go to spain and hated Greece cause of all the stray animals and lack of provision for animals (was a few years ago but has it changed?).
Was thinking of Turkey? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Probably countries that are in the EU. Animal welfare is secondary in most countries where survival is a struggle. So sticking to countries that would be considered "first world" is probably your best bet.

Spain in my experience, with the exception of bull fighting, had decent animal welfare. I did not feel that I saw many stray animals during the 3 months that I was there.

Portugal might be a nice spot. They have bull fighting but they do not kill the bulls there. Ireland, England, Norway etc would probably also be nice, though not nearly as warm!
