Could I take a macaw off of a friend's hands even tho I would be working a 40 hour week full-time career job...I understand that the larger parrots need boat loads of attention otherwise they can develop bad habits like feather plucking--so if my being away in the earlier hours of the day poses a problem I would just tell him NO and just let someone else do it...

I dont like being away from home a lot so when i get off i'll be straight home...but please dont butter me up with facts about birds i already know. If its an unreasonable request then just say so and I'll totally understand...

If at all possible, please only answer this question if you have experience with being around a Macaw...I've already tried Google it doesnt help...so I came here...
this wouldn't be for a few weeks...more like 4-ever

I recently got a Conure, which is like a small parrot. I also work 40 hours a week and struggle to give him the attention he needs. He is much smaller than a macaw so i can not imagine how you would have time to give him the attention and stimulation he needs.
I personally think that Macaw's should not be kept as pets, they are big and so intelligent that a life in a cage is not fair for them.
