Can you suggest me a great novel with travel elements?

On the Road by Jack Kerouac would seem an appropriate recommendation. It's a classic, semi-autobiographical portrait of the Beat generation. It's well-written, and absolutely full of aimless wandering. A word of warning: there's quite a bit of sex and drugs in it, and in my opinion, it's very sexist...but the fact is, it's a classic and a good one.

If you're looking for something for younger kids--preteen to teen--check out three of Sharon Creech's books: Walk Two Moons, The Wanderer, and Bloomability. Walk Two Moons is about a road trip, The Wanderer is about a sea voyage, and Bloomability is about an American going to school in Switzerland. All are wonderful books, and Creech has some wonderful insights about traveling and finding yourself.
