Can anyone give step-by-step directions about getting Google on an Android or iPad?

I have been going to computer and electronic stores and looking at their Androids and iPads and iPhones. I really want an Android but have been trying them all to try to learn the functions before I buy any of them. I really want to learn how to get the internet specifically Google and Yahoo! and when I look at the screen of the iPad or Android Tablet or the iPhone ( or any other such device) I see lots of icons for things like Facebook, "Readers Hub", "Video" "Music" "Camera" "Navigation" "Market" "Thinkfree" and what appears to be a myriad of games or " apps" none of which I really understand how to use; nor care to use, or know what they are exactly for.
I wish to get Google and search the internet that is mainly it. If I can find one of these kinds of tablets or "pads" that I can learn to make Google appear on the screen as well as the on-screen keyboard so as to type in what I need to type in, that is what I want to be able to do.

So if anyone out there can give me information about which buttons or icons to press ( again step- by-step and don't use terminology meant for a computer wizzard) and if anyone can tell me of any links where I might be able to see any videos or read any articles meant for people who still have to learn to use iPads, and Android tablets and iPhones, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also if anyone can tell me about an Android tablet that is no heavier than a pound, or if any of you know any internet articles or videos that can inform me about some of the lightest Androids for a price not much more than about $160, please let me know.

Depending on the answers, I may ask further questions.

No fresh stuff

Thanks

On the ipad just tap the safari icon .... and the browser opens and you can go to any site.
