I have a Jeep Wrangler YJ. Whenever it rains and the soft top is on, water gets inside and pools on the floor. I believe the problem lies with the windshield soft top channel (http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/m/mCcQSqz_8zcFHy-AbtHYOJg/140.jpg ); water seeps into the bolt holes on top of the windshield.
What would be the best way to solve this? I've tried 1/4" compressible gray foam run alongside the front of the bolt holes. However, when the soft top is installed and tensioned, the front of the channel sort of bends up, and I guess that lets water bypass the foam.
I'm wondering if I should get some Permatex gasket maker or sealant. Your thoughts? If I should go with Permatex, I want something that is strong but can be removed.
•Installed a soft top reinforcement kit (threaded rivets to secure the channel to the top of the windshield).
•Had problem before the kit.
•Windshield soft top channel is ONE piece.
•The 1/4" foam doesn't allow for the channel to sit flush with the top of the windshield, and the gap is widened when the soft top is installed and tensioned.
