Are Law and Grace contrary things, perhaps as different as lie and truth?

Should such ever be mingled? Eg: John 1:17
The law (lie?) was given by Moses,
but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Eg: Luke 16:16
The law and the prophets [were] until John, (but)
since that time the kingdom of God is preached

Eg: Christ refused "mingled" drink offered, twice

no. In the OT, Hebrews were under law because of their disobedience. Jesus died in our place...Grace

When Jesus talked about the old wineskin and the new wineskin and the old remnant and the new remnant, He was saying you cannot mix the old law and the new law. The new law replaced the old law.
