I've downloaded a few games from there recently and I'm pretty sure it's safe, at least the games work and I haven't had any problems (or viruses!). The size difference is likely just due to the file being compressed.

Pendragon Rising on Play Store is most probably the Android version (APK) which accounts for its small size. The one hosted at IGGGAMES is the PC version on the other hand and has a bigger file size.

Is it even out yet? I can't see the demo page on WW's website, there's no way to check if the Howler works or not without the demo. Just be patient, wait until the demo is out, try the howler, and if it doesn't work then you can ask again here.

Btw, you can also test out whether Steam games work without Steam by exiting Steam, then copying the folder to a different location (example: Desktop) and then running the game. If the game launches without reopening the Steam application, then it should work without Steam.
