99 dodge ram OD off ,drops rpms

I have just purchased this 99 dodge quad cab. when I am drivng down the hiway and turn my OD off the rpm guage drops to about 2100 @ 100km per hour. If i turn OD on ( light on dash is off) the rpms go to about 2500 @ 100km per hour. I am running abput 33" tires if this makes any king of a difference. Thanks

Seems the wiring has issues as the OD on the RPM should drop> It's backwards>
