alt. what could be wrong? I have a 1992 pontiac bonneville se that will not start. I drove it around the block, turned it off and then 5 minutes later came back to start it but it wouldn't start. It turned over but would not start.
Battery seems good. I changed the ign coil. New spark plugs. New cam sensor. I don't know what to check next. The past week has been taking it longer to start up but it always started and now nothing. What do I do?

Your problem was probably right underneath the ignition coil (you almost got it)
A common failure on this vehicle (3.8L engine) is the ICM (Ignition Control Module)

First, you need to see what you are missing, (Spark, Fuel Pressure or injector pulse) in order to diagnose the reason for your "No Start" condition.

NOTE: This vehicle can have one of 2 different ignition systems on it,
1. The Delco ignition (3 separate coils)
2. The Magnavox ignition (1 coil)
But NO distributor!

You should have taken it to a mechanic first. Maybe it is the ignition switch, fuel system and a host of other things can prevent it from running.

It sounds like it needs a tune up when it takes longer and longer to start.

Now you bought stuff that "might have" needed replacing and maybe not. Itemize all the things you changed so the mechanic does not do it twice and charge you again.
. But he has a few ideas and you took out a couple of them so it should be a faster fix.

Just by hearing the car trying to start; they can generally tell what is up pretty quick.
