I recently had an issue with this truck, I wasn't able to put the truck in D, 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear however reverse worked. After the truck sat for about 30 minutes all gears eventually worked. I don't think this has anything to do with it but my instrument cluster is bad (turns on and off intermittently, has for sometime now) and was off during this issue. Seems like an electrical issue, but not sure.
If for some reason we missed 1st gear in our attempted (do to the cluster being out) is there anything else it could be besides the transmission. Reverse did work. Thanks for the help.

I hate to tell you this but you are going to need a transmission. There is NO electrical issue that will cause NO engagement in manual low or reverse! The IPC (instrument panel cluster) is another issue (ALL GM trucks have this problem sooner or later) send the unit out for refurbishing because if you replace it with another unit it will have to be flash programmed to the vehicle!
