malfunctioning? I thought I had tracked-down the problem. This weekend I did some work on the truck. I removed the instrument panel to replace some light-bulbs, but it turns out they are all good except for one - the one for the Neutral indicator. However, I can't hardly see the instrument panel at night.

Then, just this morning, turning on the headlights stalls the engine.

I've checked the battery negative terminal where it connects to the battery and the engine and it looks fine.

I pulled the Illumination fuse and the negative battery terminal, turned the headlights on with no problems - kept running.

I've checked the cables, wires and connectors between the wiring harness that powers the tachometer to the wiring bundle and it looks like it's in good shape.

The tachometer shows a zero rpm at idle and used to show about 900rpm at idle. When I give it gas, the tachometer will slowly increase, but it's nowhere near accurate any more.

Checked the timing, and it's right on.

Found some strange custom wiring at the right-front headlight so I isolated it - but nothing changed.
