There are vents around my house...many to be exact...id say around 10 total that arent being used (at least i think) with the central a/c. In each room there are two vents (one at the base of the floor on the wall, and one towards the ceiling on the same wall) they dont have anything coming out...

Why is no cold or hot air coming out of the AC vents in the car? When I turn on the AC switch, I noticed under the hood that the fans turn on, but no air is blowing out of the vents AT ALL. Even when I turn it on fan mode, no air blows out. Why??!?!

I bought a cape cod built in 1950's and there's a beam running across the top that the rafters are connected to, so doing ridge vent's is not really an option. What would be the most effective way to vent my attic so that I can re-insulate it and finish the attic into another bedroom?

I know some of these are for ventilation but there is one with a black wire coming out of one of the vent (not covered) to the roof. Is this an electrical wire? should all vents have covers?
