I put a new belt noticed that the idler pulley was bent. I bought a new one, and put it on, and come to find out, the bracket that the idler pulley attaches to was bent. So I removed the entire bracket and was able to bend it back to where the pulley is straight and the belt stays on...
We've has a few really cold night near -15f and every morning when I go start the car (diesel) and start going the brakes will squeal for the first few time I brake. Why is this?
I have replaced the blades, to no effect. When the windscreen wipers are running, they usually squeal - loudly. They do not squeal when it is raining hard, or for the first swipe when the windscreen is wet. It is a low squeal, but loud. Could the wiper blade springs be too weak?
probably worn out brake pads. when your pads are wearing out, there is a metal backing and when that contacts the metal rotor, it makes a squeeling noise. if you let this continue, it can damage your rotors.
i just recently bought this car and have noticed that when i accelerate that the car makes a very small but noticeable noise kind of like a squeal but it is very faint. any ideas what the problem could be?
do they need to be replaced? I drive around town mostly. I have good habits and handle with care. it seems premature to hear the breaks squealing. Is there a reason besides they are worn. I know breaks aren't covered under warranty'
I'm a girl so I don't know much about car maintenance.

I couldn't tell whether the squeal was coming from the belt or the altenator so i had the belt replaced.... That stopped the constant squeal and the squeal that existed when turning tight corners, but there is still a startup squeal.. Any suggestions??????
My 1990 Ford Ranger has developed a really high, irregular squeal when I turn left, even slightly. It's a really high sound, sort of like worn brakes, but there's no consistency to it. It starts and stops with no rhythm. It only happens when I turn left. Does anyone know what it could be...
Would a lack of shims cause a brake to sporadically whine while the car is in motion or would it be more of a sound while braking? I have a harmonic whir coming from my front right side that I am having checked out by the idiots that sold me this beauty and I think they didn't put 2 and 2...
