sensors? we know BMW isnt cheap but a reasonably priced one would be good we need a cut out bumper for a tow hitch( ie a cheap one would be good )

Does anyone know why a Cigar lighter socket would just stop working in my 5 series. Non smoker, only used to charge mobile phone, not severely worn. Does anyone know the procedure to check ie. location of fuse? If the fuse is ok, then what else to try?

I've noticed that when I started the car this morning an amber square, with a circle in it, warning light came on. It is the first warning light at the lower left of the dashboard. Does anyone know what that means ?

The Traction control light is on and ABS light is on. Took it to BMW today and they scanned it and it said that the front right speed sensor is at fault. The repair for that is $371.00 and that does not guarantee that the problem will be solved, if lights don't go off they say its the ABS...

just wanting to know peoples opinions about the two cars. buying one second hand, a 1999-2002 model, they're roughly the same price. anyone who owns one is it expensive to maintain, many problems etc? cheers andrew
