i got the Motorola Devour with Motoblur. and you can add a contact or something on the screen. how do i take it off?

my boyfriend is getting me the Motorola Devour with Motoblur, and he says i will need a sim card from my other phone. my other phone is an EnV3 and does not require a sim card.

Everytime i put my phone to charge it won't. it has the battery in but if i were to remove it, the screen is the same so its not really charging. when the battery is in it says to connect charger even though it is already. and also it keeps asking everytime to activate phone when it already...
