Convert VOB to AVI?(divx/xvid)?

where can i find a program that does this for free?
how about just anything to avi?..

FFmpeg is open source and free.

It's a command-line program though, so it may be a bit hard to use. You might want to look for a guide on Google if you don't understand their instructions.
