Question about gameboy advance cartridge sizes.?

i have a final fantasy 6 advance cartridge but it sticks out a little less than an inch vertically when i put the game in. also whenever i save my game and reload it it says corrupted data and that i have to delete it. so my question is there anyway to fix this problem so i can save without fear of losing my data? i am not sure if this is a common problem or not. any help is appreciated.
