looked online but don't really no who's trustworthy-my mechanic has a huge mark-up(about 500%)

When you're working on a classic car, you have to know what parts you need, and sometimes the parts are just not available. Finding a rare part can take time and effort, and it can be worth it to just pay someone else to worry about it. But a 500% mark-up sounds wrong, if that's the case you may be getting ripped off.

I suggest you find an owner's club, such as the local chapter of these guys: http://www.mbca.org/ They'll usually have a good idea where to get parts. For common parts, esp. parts that are common to multiple vehicles (starters, dynos, spark plugs, etc.) you can just go to your local auto parts retailer, often they can order parts for you and they'll have them in 3-5 days. Or you can search online, for someone who specializes in mercedes benz parts, such as http://www.mbpartswarehouse.com/
These folks have probably got the parts you need, but when you're ordering parts online it's easy to order the wrong thing and difficult to return it. Good luck.
