What sort of wire do you need to extend internet cable?

I have internet with Virgin Media and I would like to know what the white cable is that they use to connect the modem to the box on the wall, and if you can buy it, as I want to extend it so I can move the computer. Also can you buy the connections that plug into the box?
Any help would be much appreciated.

either a CAT 5 cable if you have ethernet outlets.
or a simple telephone cable.
They come in various sizes.

If you want to have more than one opening in the telephone jack, there are plug-ins that have two or more openings for more lines...
