A smartphone is basically a computer in your hand! In has word documents! And usually internet explorer! Not Media Net like regular phones! Also the pricing for these phones are higher! And more applications and tools are on these phone than on other ones! And they are way more complicated to use too! Its harder to get throught the menu and stuff! Well hope that helps!

Any phone that has an operating system that can install third party software is a smartphone. The most common smartphone platforms: symbian s60, windows mobile, RIM, android, OSX
It has nothing to do with the features of the phone. there are many phones that have an internet browser, pdf reader, can manage word documents, that arent smartphones.

it's basically like a phone with a keyboard that can hold tons of information and do other things besides just call people..like internet, music stuff..etc.
