My DVD player can read data DVDs, why not this one?

I burned a data DVD with jpg files (about 180 images) and was able to play it in my DVD player and view on my TV . I made some edits to the images, and burned a new DVD. Now it just whirs in my DVD player and says "loading" for minutes. I'm not sure why I would have problems now. I even burned a DVD with fewer images, worrying about total file size. No luck. Total space of these images is no more than 15MB or so. I don't get it. I've tried diff programs (just drag-and-drop, burn / Windows DVD Maker / Windows Media Player). I dont know if it's the player crapping out, or the way I'm burning it. I guess I could try the DVD on another DVD player to test it, just mystified since the previous DVD had no issues. One problem is I am not 100% sure of the steps I took to burn the "good" DVD. Any ideas?
I definitely want a data DVD, not a slideshow

Please check the format in which you burned the DVD. It could be that your player does not support all file formats.
