Does the Tmobile Sidekick need internet?

I want to get a Tmobile sidekick for christmas but i want to know if it is one of those phones that requiers internet.

no u can get the phone and not pay for the internet
i got a blackberry pearl (the kind that can get inter and has wifi capabilities) and i didnt get an internet plan for it
it might just be hard for them to give it to u without getting u to sign for internet... i had to order mine of the phone then pick it up at the store bc they were being hard headed
