when I open and close the driver side door of my 2002 Yukon it makes terrible popping sounds. I have tried grease and WD 40 to no avail.

what causes the door on my car to make loud popping sounds when i open it?

Try white lithium grease in a spray can. Spray it at the hinge pins while you are moving the door in and out. Other wise it's time for new pins and bushings I'd say.
