If you fart in a vacuum, will it smell forever?

Farts seem to smell pretty bad while they're around you, and then they move around the room until everyone gets a whiff. Then they go upstairs or outside or into the couch or wherever. But if you farted in a vacuum, where the fart could never escape, it seemingly would linger forever.
