Blackberry Pearl 8130 - Selling used from Telus network?

My friend would like me to sell his Blackberry pearl 8130 used which is on the Telus network meaning there is no sim card. Could I simply take it from him and sell it right away without really "deactivating" anything, or would I need to go to a telus store and have the phone set up for sale.

I'm just concerned about the buyers. If I sold it, could they walk in and set it up for their account?

If this device is still tied to your friend's account then it can't be sold because the buyer can't activate it on their own account. By tied, I mean does your friend have a new phone on his account now, or, has his account been suspended because of nonpayment? Also, devices/phones that have been reported as lost or stolen can NEVER be activated again.
