It drives fine right up until you hit between 3-4 RPMS. The accelerator just kind of gives our and the car just wont go anymore.

Any ideas of what this could be?

It is starving out. Find the little white plastic fuel line filter.. & blow it out backwards..if you can't afford a new one. Actually I wouldn't accellerate over 3,000 rpms as a habit. That's a pretty fast clip for a little gas engine.

I'd perform a gas pressure check and you can buy the tester for about 20 bucks at many car parts outlet stores. Also I'd start with changing the gas filter especially if you've not changed it on a yrly basis.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way I'd have a scan performed too to check for any possible codes and most parts stores will do that for you free.
