Which hoover's best for picking up pet hair?

I know Dyson is supposed to be good but I can't afford one.
Anything that's affordable with good suction, good at picking up lots of dog hair?

Dysons are not that good really. I have a purple one thats supposed to pick up dog hair. I used to have an "Oreck". Wish I had kept it. Try an Oreck , they are also incredibly light as well whereas the Dyson is a monster to push about.
